In the past, I have helped PAPA with his garden and have had small gardens of my own. This book is labor intensive requiring you to create a composite pile by digging a hole into the ground under each frame. I have moved to a rocky soil area and digging any depth into the ground requires a jack hammer, hense attempting a raised bed gardening. Upon reading I quickly realized it was from a different country by the use of terms and instructions. I still do not understand some of the common terms and instructions such as "lightly earth up"?? I spent just $4 more dollars and received a book with twice the information, better quality, with colored pictures of instructions and vegatables.Product details

Even without color photos, this book is a colorful mix of knowledge,
enthusiasm and a real treasure trove for good tips and advice for growing
vegetables in raised beds. If you have a sunny spot in your garden, even
in the midst of the city with this construction you can grow your own vegetables
most effectively.
Even though I'm not technically gifted and I don't have a green thumb, I am
sure that I can build these beds by myself. Reading this book you feel like
starting your project right away, the inspiration from the book jumps
immediately to the reader.
You can tell that the author has a wealth of experience when she talks about
growing her vegetables in more than twenty raised beds, and the photos were
taken in her own garden.
The first part of the book deals with the construction of the beds, in the
second she explains the filling and the third part she presents 25 of the most
common vegetables with all necessary facts you need to know for growing them in
the raised beds.
Informative but not as nice looking as I had hoped. I would have to build the beds myself and think this would be a challenge for me.
This did not meet my expectations. Very little info offered on truly building (equipment/lumber/soil, etc.) needs. Would like to have been able to return this book. Would not recommend to anyone.
For the money, the book appears insubstantial and short. I purchased it as a gift and felt rather embarrassed when I gave it. Looks like it might have cost 7.50 with not too much information contained.

It gives all the necessary instructions on how to keep it efficient for rich harvests through the seasons and from year to year. Rita Linhart not only includes detailed information for growing twenty-five of the most popular vegetables but also how to use them in your kitchen. An easy and delightful read not just for adults but also for children!
... and a lot of tips from the experienced authors on how to be smart about everything that involves gardening. Written with a good portion of light humor, easy to read and follow. Many ideas about how to avoid expensive ready-made products by replacing them with household products, or using cheaper materials with the same great result. Highly recommend it, for the first-timer as well as the experienced gardeners.
